On Saturday, the 14th of September 2024, Clare and Paul celebrated their love surrounded by family and friends at the breathtaking venue of Vale da Oliveiras. From the outset, their day was a blend of heartfelt emotions, personal touches, and moments of joy that left everyone in awe.
As guests gathered, I, Kellie Hardie, had the pleasure of welcoming everyone to this special occasion. With a friendly reminder that the ceremony would be “unplugged,” phones were put away so that the photographers and videographers could capture the magic of the day while the guests soaked in the moment with their hearts.
The moment that truly stole everyone’s breath was when Clare’s daughter, Charly, walked her mum down the aisle. It wasn’t just a walk; it was a profound statement of love, family, and togetherness. Though Paul isn’t Charly’s biological father, the bond between them was beautifully evident. Charly’s act of giving her mother’s hand to Paul symbolised a unity that goes far beyond bloodlines—embracing the future they were about to embark upon as a family.
After the legalities were completed, I had the honour of sharing their love story, a tale that began in an unexpected place—a work trip for a boiler manufacturer that blossomed into something far more than just professional collaboration. It was a testament to how love can grow in the most unlikely of circumstances. Their proposal in Santorini in 2022, against the stunning backdrop of the Caldera, perfectly captured the magic of their connection.
One of the highlights was a lighthearted moment when I made Paul laugh during the ceremony. It’s always special when these genuine emotions surface naturally, and the photographer was quick to capture that perfect shot, freezing the joy and humour in time.
Their vows were deeply personal, filled with promises of love, support, and a future brimming with adventure. As they exchanged rings, it was a powerful reminder of how something beautiful can be created from raw beginnings, just like their journey together.
Following the declaration of marriage, Clare and Paul sealed their commitment with a kiss, officially becoming Mr. and Mrs. Gilling to the applause of their loved ones. Their union was a perfect blend of tradition, laughter, and love—a ceremony that truly reflected who they are as individuals and as a couple.
It was then time for Clare and Paul to make their marriage official by signing the wedding register and certificate. As their friends and family looked on, the moment captured the significance of the union they had just declared.
Clare’s mum, Shirley Swan, and Paul’s close friend, Andrew Stone, were invited to serve as witnesses to this legal step, adding a personal touch to this pivotal part of the ceremony. While the formalities were being completed, the rest of the guests were able to relax for a few moments, soaking in the beautiful atmosphere and anticipation of what was to come.
As I announced them for the first time as husband and wife, confetti filled the air, marking the start of their new chapter together. Clare and Paul’s wedding was more than just a ceremony; it was a celebration of love, family, and the beautiful future they have ahead of them. A day they, and all in attendance, will never forget.
